MHI patents, designs and develops technologies for securing network communications. The company has produced a number of key technology innovations that greatly enhance the ability of online services to protect communications between their users and their systems, now and into the future.

With the explosion of new devices and operating systems, wireless networks, high speed access, cloud and mobile services, the task of securing online services has never been more challenging. In addition, the ever-rising tide of cybercrime (executed through sophisticated threats, attacks and exploits) is placing massive strains on existing security infrastructure.

MHI incorporates methods that make it possible to secure communications between users and services, across any network, from any type of device - including mobile and smartphone devices. The MHI System is easy to use, deploy and manage, and requires no changes to end service applications in order to operate. The system is constructed around a highly scalable framework and is designed to support a wide variety of applications and services.

MHI protects communications between users, devices and services, delivering:

solutions

  • application private networks
  • a secure communications protocol
  • enhanced protection against online threats and attacks
  • freedom from certificates and tokens
  • strong, easy-to-use, single device, multi-factor authentication
  • end-to-end encryption of all data in transit, including handshakes
  • fine-grained, rules based access control
  • unique image-based alternative to usernames and passwords
  • the solution to the ‘ubiquitous’ password problem
  • secure smartphone, tablet & PC based communications

The MHI System requires no certificates, tokens, second devices or other complex mechanisms in order to operate, and provides a greatly simplified user experience. MHI is also fully compatible with legacy security systems and can provide an additional, risk-free layer of protection for existing services.

The MHI System currently includes two key, related technologies:

hawk-icon

“Hawk” - client-server implementation of the MHI Secure Communications Protocol, that secures communications and access between services and users, for mobile, PC and non-traditional devices and networks.

MHI Hawk delivers strong authentication, as part of a patented secure communications protocol, whereby login credentials and user context data are never transmitted, and all communications are fully encrypted from end-to-end. Hawk combines a user passcode with additional crytographic data, to create a series of encrypted tunnels. Hawk’s user input can take the form of a static passcode, or a one-time passcode or biometrics.

eagle-icon

“Eagle” - client-server implementation of the MHI Secure Authentication Protocol, that delivers strong, single device, multi-factor authentication, equivalent to a user remembering a series of 100,000+ character one-time passcodes.

MHI Eagle is an extension to Hawk, that provides an additional level of multi-factor authentication. Users select a passcode from a series of familiar images (standard or personal), which are refreshed after each login - images look very similar, but are dramatically different at a digital level each time. Image passcode selections are never transmitted and the result - an extremely long, one-time hash, is used as part of the underlying Hawk encryption process.

MHI delivers a combination of core enabling technologies and trusted applications, that can enable solutions for many industries and services:

  • Online & mobile banking, eWallets, online payments
  • Social networks, cloud services
  • Enterprise VPN, Intranet, Multi-factor authentication, secure email
  • Policing, public services, government and defence systems
  • ISP and wireless services, VOIP and mobile communications
