Mike Hawkes, CTO

Mike Hawkes is a well respected figure in the security industry and principal inventor for new products and patents at MHInvent Ltd. Mike is Chairman of the Mobile Data Association and previously headed up M- Commerce and Security for the MDA. Until recently Mike also contributed to the GSMA Security Committee.

Prior to MHInvent, Mike was CTO at Broca Plc. and inventor of Broca’s secure text messaging products. As part of his work at Broca, Mike acted as one of the primary press contacts for mobile security. He has published many press articles and spoken at both national and international conferences as an expert in mobile commerce and security. Mike’s career started in 1984, working with Mass Spectrometer control software. From there he moved to VSEL, where he spent five years working on life-critical Trident Nuclear projects for MoD, DoD and NATO. Mike worked next with Ferranti-Thomson Sonar Systems and went on to work for the parent company, Ferranti International, concentrating on life-critical command and control systems. Mike then joined Signal Television as its Technical Director to migrate ageing analogue systems into the digital domain.

Mike later worked with IS Integration as a Principal Consultant with direct involvement in a variety of large-scale (>£100M) strategic international IT consultancy roles. His client base included Microsoft, Barclays Bank, Provident Financial, Equifax, Experian, GE Capital Finance, A&L, BT, BBC, RBS, and HBOS.
