Jim Fergus, Chairman and CFO
Jim Fergus is the principal investor in MHInvent, with executive responsibility as Chairman and Chief Financial Officer. Jim’s career has seen him act as Shareholder and Financial Director in many limited companies across diverse industries including manufacturing, distribution, electrical and mechanical contracting and insurance brokering.
Jim founded Colmic Electrical Management Services in 1993 and built the Company up to a £36m turnover business with 350 employees, which was always profitable. In 2003 it was sold to a competitor. In 1984 Jim co-founded Steel Support Systems Ltd. In 1988 the Company bought Unirax Ltd, a major competitor to make them the largest distributor of support systems for the electrical/mechanical contracting industry in the country. In 1990 the Company completed a reverse takeover of Richards Group plc. Jim Fergus became Managing Director of Richards Group plc, a position he resigned from in 1993 to become a Non-executive Director. Jim was previously Finance Director at California Auto Centre Ltd and associated companies, leaving in 1984 having built the business from £2m to £8m turnover.
